  Lance Powless - Pianist

Lance Powless has played the piano since the age of six making his debut performance at age eleven in church.  Powless quickly became a regular fixture on both the piano and organ bench.  He has studied piano, harpsichord, and organ at Murray State University under the tutelage of Dr. Steven Brown and studied voice at John A. Logan under Joyce Hesketh serving as harpsichordist for Hesketh’s string group “Le Jardin Players”.  Lance has played in numerous functions at MSU, SIUC and JALC at graduations, choir concerts as well as spring and summer musicals.

During his years of playing, he has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Western Europe as a guest performer.  He is a member of the American Guild of Organists and National Catholic Pastoral Musicians Guild.  Powless enjoys playing Classical (with a focus in Baroque style), Broadway Classics, Big Band Standards and Sacred music. His pop interests lay mainly in the era of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

Lance’s style is best described as highly melodic and he feels that that music serves as the language of emotion.
